Soccer Game Preview: Naples vs. North Fort Myers

Naples is 1-8-1 against North Fort Myers since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Naples Golden Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the North Fort Myers Red Knights at 7:00 p.m. Naples is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.7 goals per game this season.

Naples' defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Wednesday. They skirted past Cape Coral 1-0. Given the Golden Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Seahawks are ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Naples' one-goal win came courtesy of Brooklyn Solomon, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, North Fort Myers had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Seahawks with a sharp 9-0 win. The Red Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by three goals or more this season.

North Fort Myers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 55 goals over those eight games. As for Naples, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Naples might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from North Fort Myers when the teams last played back in January. Can Naples avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
