Football Game Preview: Piner Prospectors vs. San Rafael Bulldogs + Official Tickets

The Piner Prospectors are taking a road trip to face off against the San Rafael Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Piner is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 28-20 victory over Healdsburg on Friday. The Prospectors haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for San Rafael, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They breezed past Archie Williams to the tune of 42-14 on Saturday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Bulldogs just coasted through the last quarter.

A big part of San Rafael's win came down to the chemistry between Lachlan Royston and his top target Jameson Fondnazio. Royston threw for 312 yards and six TDs while Fondnazio picked up 104 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Thanks to that big game, Royston is now up to 20 passing touchdowns on the season. Derek Dugan also helped out as he racked up 126 receiving yards.

Piner's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for San Rafael, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-2.

Piner took their victory against San Rafael in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 42-20 score. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Bulldogs' Rio Johnson, who rushed for 114 yards and a pair of scores. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Prospectors still be able to contain Johnson? There's only one way to find out.
