Morro Bay was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Orcutt Academy on Tuesday. The Pirates never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cruz Wilkinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Wilkinson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Frankie Ainley, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was Quentin Crotts, who scored three runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Morro Bay's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Orcutt Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Morro Bay will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
