Basketball Recap: Amari Sims and Ryan Mallory Secure Win for East Marion

The East Marion Eagles strolled past the Mount Olive Pirates with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 72-54.

East Marion was led to victory by Ryan Mallory and Amari Sims. Mallory went 8-for-13 to rack up 17 points along with six assists and six boards, while Sims posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. Those six assists gave Sims a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarcus Murphy, who shot 86% from the field on his way to 13 points.

The win got East Marion back to even at 1-1. As for Mount Olive, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, East Marion will face off against Columbia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Olive has already played their next matchup (against Sacred Heart), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
