Basketball Recap: Brenna Briles' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Forestburg over Throckmorton

On Friday, the Forestburg Longhorns were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 31-26 to the Throckmorton Greyhounds. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Forestburg lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brenna Briles, who posted 17 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Jocelynn Rich, who put up seven points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Forestburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Forestburg's loss dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Throckmorton, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-16 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Forestburg will venture away from home to challenge Newcastle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Newcastle will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something Forestburg surely won't give up without a fight. As for Throckmorton, they will face off against Midway at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Midway: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Throckmorton has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
