League recap: Rangely's Denny delivers best pitching performance from past week

2A Western Slope league recap: 5/14/12

Kody Denny was the best pitcher in 2A Western Slope this week. His stat line for the week included one win and 12 Ks.

Paonia (17-5, 8-0) is riding a league-best 9-game winning streak. The streak was extended by another game over the past week, a 5-4 victory over Sargent. Tyler Kendall led the lineup this week with three hits and six RBIs.

The Eagles' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing six hits and five walks to lead the league in both categories. On the season, Paonia has allowed just 119 hits, while striking out 183 batters. Landon Long leads Paonia with 70 strikeouts in 51 innings.

The Eagles, the season leader in runs scored at 226, added to their total with a league-high 31 runs this week. Kc Christian leads the team with 41 runs scored and Kendall has a team-high 35 RBIs on the year.

Rangely's Toby Gasper led the league with six hits this week. He is fourth in the league with 26 hits this year, and has a .456 batting average.
