Basketball Game Preview: Kelly Walsh Trojans vs. Star Valley Braves

The Kelly Walsh Trojans will face off against the Star Valley Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Kelly Walsh is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kelly Walsh beat Evanston 39-33.

Meanwhile, Star Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Green River on Saturday and fell 45-43.

Defeat or not, Star Valley got some senior leadership from Emily Dana and Kambree Johnson. Dana posted 14 points and five rebounds, while Johnson had ten points. Dana continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Camryn Mackey was another key player, putting up five points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Star Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Kelly Walsh's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-10. As for Star Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9.

Kelly Walsh came up short against Star Valley when the teams last played back in January, falling 45-32. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dana, who went 8 of 11 en route to 23 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.
