Basketball Game Preview: Whitewater Whippets vs. Delavan-Darien Comets

The Whitewater Whippets will venture away from home to take on the Delavan-Darien Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitewater is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.6 points per game this season.

Whitewater took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 69-41 victory over Lincoln Academy. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-17.

Casey Lyon and Matthew Carollo were among the main playmakers for Whitewater as the former went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc en route to 38 points along with six boards and three steals and the latter dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Lyon now owns an excellent 45.7% field goal percentage. Connor Brummeyer also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Meanwhile, after only 24 points in their last contest, Delavan-Darien made sure to put some points up on the board against Jefferson on Thursday. The Comets enjoyed a cozy 58-42 win over the Eagles. The Comets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The victory got Delavan-Darien back to even at 2-2. As for Whitewater, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Whitewater ended up a good deal behind Delavan-Darien when the teams last played back in February, losing 80-64. Can the Whippets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
