Baseball Recap: Brookfield Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Brookfield walked away with it. They never let the Woodstock Academy Centaurs get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.

Matt McDowell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

In other pitching news, Mikey Graham looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.

McDowell wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matt Ackerly, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Brookfield's win bumped their record up to 22-2. As for Woodstock Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 13 games and leaves them with a 20-9 record.

Brookfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Centaurs: the pair will be back at it again later today.
