Softball Recap: Winamac Beats North White for Their Seventh Straight Win

Winamac extended their winning streak to seven on Monday, bumping their season record up to 10-1 in the process. They skirted past the North White Vikings 4-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Winamac's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Bruce, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for North White, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On North White's side, Kaylyn Applegate spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks. Applegate has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Melanie Crawford was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Looking ahead, Winamac will be playing in front of their home fans against Culver Community at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 10.9 runs per game this season. As for North White, they will head out on the road to square off against Frontier at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
