Baseball Recap: Grainger Gets the Win

Grainger hadn't done well against Union County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Grainger Grizzlies walked away with a 7-4 win over the Union County Patriots. For the Grizzlies, this counts as revenge for the 10-3 victory the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Kade Lucas was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Grainger's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Carver Turley was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Grainger and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Union County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7-1.

Coming up, Grainger will venture away from home to face off against Halls at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union County, they will take on Northview Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
