Softball Recap: Belvidere North Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Win

Belvidere North had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Rockford Auburn Knights. That's two games straight that the Blue Thunder have won by exactly six runs.

Ava Morris made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabelle Schadle, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Miley Dobbs, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Belvidere North's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Rockford Auburn, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belvidere North will welcome Harlem at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rockford Auburn, they will be playing at home against Dixon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
