Basketball Recap: Kaleik Cook Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

Mid Valley's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Scranton on Monday. The Mid Valley Spartans walked away with a 57-45 win over the West Scranton Invaders. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Invaders are ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mid Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaleik Cook out in front who went 7 of 10 en route to 17 points. The dominant performance gave Cook a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Demaja Dunston, who posted 11 points along with six boards and three steals.

Mid Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Mid Valley now has a winning record of 3-2. As for West Scranton, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Mid Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-24 win against Western Wayne on the 19th. As for West Scranton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 59-47 loss against Lakeland on the 18th.
