Softball Recap: Apache Junction Prospectors vs. Seton Catholic Sentinels
Apache Junction extended their losing streak to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 1-12. They lost 22-1 to the Seton Catholic Sentinels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sentinels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 back in March.
As for Seton Catholic, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Seton Catholic's part, Abbey Cota was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Cota a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apache Junction will welcome ALA - Ironwood at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
