Softball Recap: Largo Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Largo won the last time they faced Lakewood and things went their way on Friday too. The Packers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Spartans a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Packers have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Largo let Vera Hall and Laila Weber run wild. Hall went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Weber went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs. That's the most hits Weber has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Meloy, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Largo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Largo's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Lakewood, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Largo will host Shorecrest Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakewood, they will be playing at home against Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.39 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
