Softball Recap: Genoa Central Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

The matchup between Genoa Central and Bradley on Monday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Genoa Central Dragons put the hurt on the Bradley Bears with a sharp 16-8 victory. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by exactly eight runs.

Rylee Fike made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Owen, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubree Smith, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Genoa Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive games.

Genoa Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
