Recap: Lutheran South Academy Pioneers vs. Second Baptist Eagles
If the Lutheran South Academy Pioneers were feeling good off their 75-36 takedown of Emery/Weiner last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lutheran South Academy suffered a rough 73-49 defeat at the hands of Second Baptist on Friday. Lutheran South Academy has not had much luck with Second Baptist recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaylen Walker, who scored 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kole Alexander, who scored five points along with five assists and three steals.
Second Baptist found their leader in underclassman Christian Haskett, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Dyllan Thompson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Lutheran South Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-14. As for Second Baptist, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-7.
Lutheran South Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Frassati Catholic at 7:30 p.m. As for Second Baptist, they will head out on the road to square off against Emery/Weiner at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Emery/Weiner: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Second Baptist has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
