Baseball Recap: Carver A&T Sets Scoring Season-High Against Overlea

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carver A&T). They blew past the Overlea Falcons 27-20 on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-5 on April 1st.

Trevor Schnirel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Wehrheim, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Landen Gendimenico, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Carver A&T kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Carver A&T and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 24.5 runs over those games. As for Overlea, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Carver A&T will be playing in front of their home fans against Milford Mill Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Millers at the right time seeing as the Millers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Overlea, they will head out on the road to take on Chesapeake at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
