Baseball Game Preview: Sanger Apaches vs. Kingsburg Vikings

The Sanger Apaches will take on the Kingsburg Vikings in a tournament on Tuesday. Sanger's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Kingsburg's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Sanger's victory against McLane wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Sanger's pitchers stepped up to hand McLane a 1-0 shutout on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Apaches have posted since March 25, 2024.

Meanwhile, Kingsburg waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 8-1 victory. That looming 8-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.

Kingsburg saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Duarte, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. King Rodriquez was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Kingsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Sanger now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Kingsburg, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Sanger might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Kingsburg in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Can Sanger avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
