Baseball Recap: Lexington Bulldogs vs. Frederick Bombers
On Tuesday, the Lexington Bulldogs had just enough and edged the Frederick Bombers out 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for Lexington.
Logan Carroll was excellent, going 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Dierking, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
On Frederick's side, Dalton Wells was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. Wells was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Alex Mathews made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Zane Tyler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with an RBI.
Even though they lost, Frederick didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 11 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lexington only tossed six.
Lexington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-11 record this season. As for Frederick, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-17.
Lexington will play host again on Thursday to welcome Davis, where first pitch is scheduled at 5:00 p.m. Davis will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Lexington surely won't give up without a fight. As for Frederick, they will head out on the road to take on Altus at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
