Softball Recap: Valley View Comes Up Short

The Valley View Spartans didn't have quite enough to beat the Madison Mohawks on Friday and fell 6-5.

Emily Woodward stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Bell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Valley View has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5-1 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. Madison's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley View will face off against Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Madison, they will square off against Bellbrook at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Mohawks surely won't give up without a fight.
