Metlakatla had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They came out on top against the Cordova Wolverines by a score of 53-40. For the Chiefs, this counts as revenge for the 47-42 victory the Wolverines walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was John Itliong, who posted 18 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Noah Pearson, who had five points and eight rebounds.

Metlakatla's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points over those games. As for Cordova, they moved to 9-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Metlakatla wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-41 victory against Unalakleet on the 22nd. As for Cordova, they have also already played their next contest, a 54-27 win against Unalaska on the 22nd.
