Baseball Game Preview: Issaquah Eagles vs. Newport - Bellevue Knights

Issaquah is 9-1 against Newport - Bellevue since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will challenge the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Issaquah's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Newport - Bellevue's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Issaquah and North Creek had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars on Monday.

Issaquah got a good showing from Griffin Neel, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Neel has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hudson Carvalho made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

Meanwhile, Newport - Bellevue was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Skyline, falling 13-3.

Newport - Bellevue saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Freytag, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Newport - Bellevue's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Issaquah, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Issaquah was able to grind out a solid victory over Newport - Bellevue when the teams last played back in March, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
