After a string of three wins, Chase County's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gothenburg Swedes. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Swedes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Chase County lost, don't look at Camron Lempke. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 9 en route to 16 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Terryberry, who posted seven points and three blocks.

Chase County now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Gothenburg, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Chase County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Holyoke at 4:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Gothenburg, they will head out to take on Broken Bow at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Broken Bow is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season.
