Volleyball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Victory Christian Academy suffered their biggest defeat since October 15, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against the Illiana Christian Vikings, falling 3-0. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 25-16.

Elle Thomae paced Victory Christian Academy's offense, picking up seven kills. Thomae got some help from Ava Buckland and her 16 assists. Finally, Thomae was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Illiana Christian was led to victory by Grace Wonder and Ava Bercot. Wonder had nine digs and four aces, while Bercot had 23 digs and two aces. Those 23 digs gave Bercot a new career-high. Noelle Zylstra also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Victory Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Illiana Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Victory Christian Academy will challenge Calumet Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Illiana Christian, they will take on Lake Station Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
