Baseball Game Preview: Edwin O. Smith Panthers vs. Windsor Warriors

The Edwin O. Smith Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Windsor Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Windsor took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Edwin O. Smith, who comes in off a win.

Edwin O. Smith was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Ellington 3-2.

Riley Certo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. Edwin O. Smith is undefeated when Certo posts ten or more strikeouts, but 1-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Edwin O. Smith saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Vazquez, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That hit was Vazquez's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Windsor didn't have quite enough to beat Simsbury on Thursday and fell 4-3. The loss was the Warriors' first of the season.

The win got Edwin O. Smith back to even at 4-4. As for Windsor, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-1-1.
