Softball Game Preview: Bishop Kenny Crusaders vs. Fleming Island Golden Eagles

The Bishop Kenny Crusaders will square off against the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Bishop Kenny nor Fleming Island posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Last Thursday, Bishop Kenny came up short against Episcopal School of Jacksonville and fell 5-1. The Crusaders have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Bishop Kenny saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Mulkey, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Fleming Island's offense. They fell just short of Atlantic Coast by a score of 1-0 last Friday. The Golden Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Mallory Blackwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in May of 2024.

Bishop Kenny's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Fleming Island, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Bishop Kenny was able to grind out a solid win over Fleming Island when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Will Bishop Kenny repeat their success, or does Fleming Island has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
