Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Jordan's Winning Streak

After flying high against Tooele on Tuesday, Jordan came back down to earth. The Beetdiggers came up short against the Murray Spartans on Thursday, falling 3-0. The shutout was out of character for the Beetdiggers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20, 25-14.

Thys Oppermann paced Jordan's offense, picking up nine kills. Oppermann got some help from Shaun White and his 15 assists.

Murray was led to victory by Jim Jensen and Alex Beckstead. Jensen had seven digs and one assist, while Beckstead had 13 kills, five digs, and three aces. That's the most kills Beckstead has posted since back in March.

The defeat snapped Jordan's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-7 record. As for Murray, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Jordan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against American Heritage on the 18th. As for Murray, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Grantsville on the 18th.
