Baseball Recap: SA Roosevelt Finds Home Field Redemption Against Highlands

There's no place like home for SA Roosevelt, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over the Highlands Owls on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rough Riders needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Uriah Perez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Joseph Alonzo was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Evan Reina, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

SA Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highlands only posted an OBP of .429.

The win got SA Roosevelt back to even at 2-2-1. As for Highlands, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2-1.

Coming up, SA Roosevelt will face off against Roma at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Highlands, they will challenge Marion at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Highlands' hittershaven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Thursday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.
