Top remaining high school football recruits still playing for a state title

The high school football season has concluded in more than half the states across the country, but there are still plenty of top recruits playing in the month of December.

Based on the 247Sports 2014 Football Top Recruits list, here are the top 10 seniors still competing for a state championship. Also be sure to check out our playoff brackets from across the nation.

Top 2014 Recruits Still Playing for State Titles

1. Jabrill Peppers, Paramus Catholic (N.J.)

Ranked No. 3 in the nation by 247Sports, Peppers and his teammates take on St. Peter's Prep in the New Jersey Non-Public Group 4 championship game. Peppers has rushed for 595 yards this year and has 25 catches for 413 yards. On defense, he has 57 tackles and four interceptions. He has committed to Michigan.

2. Andrew Brown, Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.)
The No. 4 recruit, Brown is headed to Virginia next year. His team faces Colonial Forge in the Virginia Class 6A state semifinals this weekend. Recently named the Virginia Gatorade State Player of the Year, Brown has 86 tackles, 17 sacks and 28 tackles for loss.



3. Marlon Humphrey, Hoover (Ala.)
Hoover takes on Auburn in the Class 6A state finals in Alabama. Humphrey, who has not committed yet, is No. 6 on the 247Sports list of top recruits and he is the son of former NFL running back Bobby Humphrey.

The No. 12 recruit overall as a wide receiver, Noil actually plays quarterback for Karr. Noil has 1,387 yards passing and 1,345 yards rushing on the season. Karr takes on Landry-Walker in the Louisiana Class 4A semifinals. Noil has not made a college choice.

5. Dante Booker, St. Vincent-St. Mary (Akron, Ohio)
Booker and St. Vincent-St. Mary play Trotwood-Madison on Thursday in the Ohio Division III state championship game. Booker is ranked No. 13 overall and is headed to Ohio State.

6. Lorenzo Carter, Norcross (Ga.)
Carter has 104 tackles on the season, including 35 for loss, in helping Norcross reach the Georgia Class AAAAAA semifinals. Carter, the No. 14 overall recruit, has not committed to a college yet.

7. Dalvin Cook, Central (Miami)
Central takes on Mainland in the Class 6A state semifinals in Florida. Cook has been a mainstay at running back for Central, rushing for 1,644 yards and 30 touchdowns. He will be called on even more this week as leading rusher Joseph Yearby is out with an injury. Cook has committed to the Florida Gators for next year.

8. Adoree' Jackson, Serra (Gardena, Calif.)
The No. 19 recruit was instrumental in leading Serra to a state title last year and he and the Cavaliers are at it again. They will play Chaminade for the California Southern Section Western Division title this weekend and then await a possible selection to the SoCal regional playoffs. Jackson missed last week's game with an injury and his status is in doubt for this week.

9. Gerald Willis, Karr (New Orleans)
Willis joins Noil to give Karr two of the top recruits still playing for a title. Willis, ranked No. 26 overall, has not made a college commitment yet.



10. Marshon Lattimore, Glenville (Cleveland)
Lattimore and the Tarblooders play Loveland in the Ohio Division II state championship. Ranked No. 33 overall, Lattimore is the fifth-rated cornerback on the 247Sports recruit list. He was recently named as the Ohio Division II Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press.
