Baseball Recap: South Point Takes a Loss

South Point extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 10-8 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Gaston Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Red Raiders have suffered against the Wildcats since April 5, 2018.

As for North Gaston, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against South Point since April 11, 2023.

For North Gaston's part, Jackson Livingston tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Livingston has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. South Point is set to face off against their familiar foe Kings Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on the 28th. Meanwhile, North Gaston will take on rival Huss at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Wildcats' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Huskies have been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road.
