Baseball Recap: Troy Triumphs

Troy posted their closest victory since May 17, 2025 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Shamokin Area Indians, sneaking past 13-11. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered an 8-7 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Vinnie Colton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Colton was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Pryor Teribury was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. He has become a key player for Troy: the team is 3-0-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Logan Loxley was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Troy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are undefeated (3-0) when they post 11 or more hits.

Troy's win bumped their record up to 5-3-1. As for Shamokin Area, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Troy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-1 loss against Hughesville on the 18th. As for Shamokin Area, they will welcome Selinsgrove at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Seals will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
