Lovejoy is 0-3 against Northgate since September of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 5:30 p.m. Northgate took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lovejoy, who comes in off a win.
Lovejoy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Banneker on Monday as they made off with a 25-8 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Taylin Freeman was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lovejoy got a massive performance out of Kerri McGhee, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave McGhee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kennedi Harley, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs.
Lovejoy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .837. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Northgate's offense. They lost 8-0 to East Coweta on Monday. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Lovejoy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Northgate, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lovejoy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .585. However, it's not like Northgate struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lovejoy suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Northgate when the teams last played on September 4th. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
