Softball Game Preview: Neshoba Central Rockets vs. Grenada Chargers

For the second straight game, Neshoba Central will face off against Grenada. The Rockets will square off against the Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neshoba Central will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Neshoba Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Grenada by a score of 7-4.

For Grenada's part, Mary Taylour Wilbourn was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Wilbourn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Lashley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Neshoba Central pushed their record up to 21-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Grenada, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-10.
