Softball Recap: Centennial Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Centennial extended their winning streak to eight on Friday, bumping them up to 20-6-1. They blew past the Cleburne Yellowjackets 14-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 back in February.

Ava Ellis made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Ellis was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kalie Randall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Lexie Arthur, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleburne only posted an OBP of .318.

As for Cleburne, they dropped their record down to 11-17 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Cleburne's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Azriela Huber, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Huber's first of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Centennial is set to square off against their familiar foe Mansfield Summit at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cleburne will challenge rival Burleson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
