After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Stern, Smidt Tech was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Los Angeles Leadership Academy Lions 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Grey Wolves: when they faced off against the Lions back in March, they had to take a 3-0 defeat.

Smidt Tech wouldn't go down easily and took Los Angeles Leadership Academy into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-20, 20-25, 26-24, 15-9.

Nathan Lopez paced Smidt Tech's offense, picking up 23 kills. Lopez got some help from Gio Lopez and his 19 assists. Nathan also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Israel Beltran, racking up six apiece.

Despite the loss, Los Angeles Leadership Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Daniel Duarte had 15 assists and two aces.

Smidt Tech's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Los Angeles Leadership Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.

Smidt Tech didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Harbor Teacher on the 5th. As for Los Angeles Leadership Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against WISH Academy on the 4th.
