Recap: Tekoa Academy Knight vs. Harmony Science Academy Tigers
The Tekoa Academy Knight's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harmony Science Academy. Tekoa Academy found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post nine fewer assists than your opponent.
Tekoa Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathaniel McCullar, who scored 19 points along with four steals. That was a full 38% of Tekoa Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Braylon Lewis, who scored 12 points along with seven steals.
Even though they lost, Tekoa Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Harmony Science Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kethen Randle out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Randle is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last ten games he's played. Kevin Sparrow was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.
Tekoa Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Harmony Science Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13.
Tekoa Academy will head out on the road to square off against Community Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Tekoa Academy is facing Community Christian at the right time seeing as Community Christian is stuck on a 18-game losing streak. As for Harmony Science Academy, they will play host again and welcome Veritas Classical Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Harmony Science Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Veritas Classical Academy likes a good challenge.
