Soccer Game Preview: St. Mark's vs. Smyrna

The St. Mark's Spartans will square off against the Smyrna Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Mark's will be strutting in after a win while Smyrna will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Mark's is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Padua Academy, who was ranked seventh at the time (St. Mark's was ranked third). The Spartans beat Padua Academy by a goal, winning 4-3. The victory continues a trend for St. Mark's in their matchups with Padua Academy: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Smyrna fought the good fight in their overtime match against Sussex Central on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Knights by a score of 2-1. Smyrna's loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Smyrna's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for St. Mark's, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
