The Ezekiel Academy Knights are taking a road trip to take on the East Central HomeSchool Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Ezekiel Academy put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Trinity Christian Homeschool 48-6. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Knights with their most commanding win of the season.
A big part of Ezekiel Academy's victory came down to the chemistry between Parker Weston and his top target Donovan Gentry. Weston threw for 202 yards and five TDs on only 14 passes while Gentry picked up 168 receiving yards and four scores. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 85 yards.
Meanwhile, East Central HomeSchool faced Lighthouse HomeSchool in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. The Patriots came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 40-30.
Ezekiel Academy better keep an eye on Micah Smith. He was instrumental in East Central HomeSchool's win, picking up 175 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Smith was even better on defense, picking up a sack and making 18 total tackles in addition to snagging two interceptions.
East Central HomeSchool didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Smith. Another thorn in Lighthouse HomeSchool's side was Nick Nelson, who picked up a sack and made 17 total tackles.
East Central HomeSchool now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ezekiel Academy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Ezekiel Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 166.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Central HomeSchool struggles in that department as they've been averaging 158.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Ezekiel Academy took a serious blow against East Central HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 61-34. Thankfully for the Knights, Nikita Getmanshchuk (who threw for 274 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.0 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
