Baseball Recap: Wekiva Comes Up Short

Wekiva lost against Gateway back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wekiva Mustangs lost 17-4 to the Gateway Panthers.

Brady Reinert was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Cody Bowen was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Even though they lost, Wekiva always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. This was only their first loss (out of five games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Wekiva's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Gateway, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Wekiva will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mount Dora at 6:00 p.m. on March 24th. As for Gateway, they will challenge Innovation at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Innovation is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
