Softball Game Preview: Garnet Valley Jaguars vs. Haverford Fords

Garnet Valley is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will welcome the Haverford Fords at 3:45 p.m. Haverford took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Garnet Valley, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row dating back to last season, Garnet Valley turned things around against Cardinal O'Hara on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lions 3-2.

Ashlyn Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zoey Rogers, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Haverford came up short against Interboro on Tuesday and fell 6-3. The loss was the Fords' first of the season.

Haverford saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Ardizzi, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Haverford fell to 2-1. As for Garnet Valley, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Garnet Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Haverford in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 6-1. Does Garnet Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Haverford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
