Baseball Recap: Southwest SD Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Southwest SD and Chula Vista meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Raiders fell 9-5 to the Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 7-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Dario Zepeda made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Lewis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Southwest SD's record now sits at 12-10. As for Chula Vista, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13.

While Southwest SD had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
