Football Recap: Mitchell Takes a Loss

Mitchell extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They took a blow against the North Daviess Cougars, falling 52-6. The Bluejackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

Despite the defeat, Mitchell had strong showings from Sven Lutchka, who picked up 90 receiving yards and one TD, and Joe Todd, who threw for 96 yards and one touchdown. Lutchka got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 67 yards.

As for North Daviess, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.9 points on average this season.

Keaton Graber continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 93 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 149 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (155.9). Cambell Wittmer was in the mix as well, providing North Daviess with one TD.

Coming up, Mitchell will be playing at home against Paoli at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bluejackets will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups. As for North Daviess, they will head out on the road to face off against North Knox at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
