Preview: Waterloo East Trojans vs. Decorah-North Winneshiek Vikings

Waterloo East is 0-5 against Decorah-North Winneshiek since October of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Waterloo East Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Decorah-North Winneshiek Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Waterloo East is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Last Friday, Waterloo East had to suffer through a rough 56-20 loss at the hands of Waverly-Shell Rock. While losing is never fun, Waterloo East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Waverly-Shell Rock is ranked 96th).

Waterloo East's loss came about despite a quality game from Vari Clark, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown. Clark was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards.

Meanwhile, Decorah-North Winneshiek was the victim of a rough 28-7 defeat at the hands of Western Dubuque on Thursday. Decorah-North Winneshiek has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The losses dropped Waterloo East to 2-6 and Decorah-North Winneshiek to 5-3.

Waterloo East was taken down by Decorah-North Winneshiek 45-6 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Waterloo East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
