Basketball Recap: Young Men's Leadership Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Raishaun Conaway and Aiden Olivarez

Young Men's Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 61-41 to the Cole Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Cole this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-36 back in January.

Young Men's Leadership Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aiden Olivarez, who posted 15 points and three steals, and Raishaun Conaway, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points. That was a full 36.6% of Young Men's Leadership Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

Leading Cole to victory were Logan Beckstrom and Jayvin Ybarra. Beckstrom went 6-for-15 on his way to 19 points along with eight assists and eight boards, while Ybarra went 8-for-14 en route to 21 points. Those eight assists gave Beckstrom a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Schonberg, who scored eight points.

Young Men's Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Cole, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-7.

Young Men's Leadership Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cole, they will host Natalia at 6:30 p.m. on February 18th.
