Baseball Game Preview: San Marcos Knights vs. Santa Fe Christian Eagles

The San Marcos Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Santa Fe Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. San Marcos will be strutting in after a win while Santa Fe Christian will be coming in after a defeat.

San Marcos barely beat Mission Hills the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. San Marcos was the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Mission Hills on Wednesday. The Knights not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 18, 2024.

San Marcos got a great performance from Carter Tsai as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maddox Ponsford, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Evan Hall, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

San Marcos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission Hills only posted a batting average of .200.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe Christian suffered their biggest loss since May 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to Torrey Pines. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Santa Fe Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for San Marcos, their record is now 3-1.

San Marcos came out on top in a nail-biter against Santa Fe Christian when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will San Marcos repeat their success, or does Santa Fe Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
