Volleyball Game Preview: Cyprus Pirates vs. West Panthers + How To Watch

The Cyprus Pirates will head out on the road to take on the West Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Cyprus, who comes in off a win.

While Cyprus' victory against Taylorsville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates won by a set and slipped past the Warriors 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won seven in a row.

Cyprus took Taylorsville into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 15-9.

Cyprus' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Saris Rengifo, who had 27 digs and two aces, and Sara Johnson, who had 16 digs. Those 16 digs gave Johnson a new career-high.

Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, West's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Hunter. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since September 2nd.

While West was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Hunter's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-19, 26-24.

Cyprus' victory bumped their record up to 9-16. As for West, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 18-5.

Cyprus couldn't quite get it done against West in their previous meeting back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
