Softball Game Preview: Old Forge Blue Devils vs. Valley View Cougars

The Old Forge Blue Devils will take on the Valley View Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Old Forge managed to slip by Palmetto Ridge the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Old Forge came up short against Palmetto Ridge on Friday, falling 12-4.

Juliette DeStefano made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kate O'Hearn, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Valley View made easy work of Holy Redeemer on Tuesday and carried off an 11-1 win. The Cougars have beaten the Royals the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Royals has come to flipping the script.

Abbi Call made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Call was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Moyles, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Kalli Karwowski was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Valley View pushed their record up to 2-0-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Old Forge, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
