Basketball Recap: Mineral Ridge Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Mineral Ridge waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Orange Lions, sneaking past 64-62.

Mineral Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Moore, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Moore's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Shaffer, who went 5 of 9 en route to 20 points.

Despite the defeat, Orange had strong showings from Luke Schmotzer, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 12 points in addition to six assists and six boards, and Major Calhoun, who went 5 of 11 en route to 18 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jean-Marie Morris-Barrie, who posted nine points.

Mineral Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Orange, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Mineral Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-47 win against Springfield on the 4th. Orange has also already played their next game, a 54-53 victory against East Tech on the 3rd.
