Basketball Recap: Sahuaro Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Sahuaro had won five straight games and Cisco Llamas did his part to make it six on Friday. The Sahuaro Cougars secured a 66-62 W over the Walden Grove Red Wolves thanks in part to Llamas, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals.

Jackson Vernon was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds. He also put up a steal, which washis first of the season.

Walden Grove lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Malachi Kuti George, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Imileo Martinez, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Sahuaro's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.9 points per game. As for Walden Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.

Sahuaro has already played their next match, a 62-49 victory against Ironwood Ridge on the 21st. As for Walden Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-55 defeat against Mica Mountain on the 21st.
